Here can be found a collection of several types of traditional mechanical toys which are or have been in my own collection. I have divided them into different groups to make it a little easier to browse.
The collection includes toys powered by Steam; Wound spring - "clockwork" or "pull back"; Flywheel inertia - "friction"; Electric motor. There are no sophisticated electronics here. Also included are simple traditional unpowered toys, power is supplied by the operators and their imagination! Accessories for the above toys are also shown.
Toys can be made from a variety of materials including diecast metals, tinplate litho printed, wood, plastics etc.
The Steam Designs items have been restored, created, or modified from others by myself, many of which have now been sold. |
